  1. Paul Casey, who played in five Ryder Cups and won the Scottish Open and the European Masters, is from which Gloucestershire spa town, better known for its racecourse?

    Answer: Cheltenham, Gloucestershire

Casey played college golf in Arizona and won the 1999 Walker Cup at Nairn alongside Luke Donald.

  2. Payne Stewart holed a 15-foot par putt on the final green to win the 1999 US Open, then held Phil Mickelson's face and told him he was going to be a father. Where?

Answer: Pinehurst No. 2, North Carolina

Mickelson carried a pager in case his wife went into labour; their daughter was born the next day. Stewart died in a plane crash four months later, and a statue of his pose stands behind the 18th green.

  3. Xander Schauffele and Nelly Korda won Olympic golds in 2021 at a Japanese course that had to admit women members to keep the event. Where?

  5. Europe won the 2000 Solheim Cup on the shores of Scotland's largest loch, in a match soured by a row over a conceded putt that Annika Sörenstam had chipped in. Where?
