Golf courses on a world map: every one from past rounds on one map.

  1. Jean Van de Velde needed a double bogey at the last to win the 1999 Open and took a triple, paddling in the Barry Burn, before Paul Lawrie won the play-off from ten shots back. Where?

    Answer: Carnoustie Golf Links, Angus

Van de Velde hit the grandstand, a rock and the water. Lawrie's comeback is the biggest final-round turnaround in major history.

  2. David Duval won his only major at the 2001 Open by three shots, in the week Ian Woosnam was penalised two strokes for having 15 clubs in his bag. Where?

Answer: Royal Lytham & St Annes, Lancashire

Sweden's Niclas Fasth was runner-up. Woosnam's caddie had left a spare driver in the bag after warming up, and Woosnam finished joint third.

  3. Scottie Scheffler shot 62 to win Olympic gold in 2024, and Lydia Ko completed a full set of Olympic medals a week later, at the course that staged the 2018 Ryder Cup. Where?

    Answer: Le Golf National, Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines

Tommy Fleetwood took silver and Rory McIlroy finished fifth. Ko's gold put her in the Hall of Fame.

  4. John Daly, the long-hitting 1991 PGA and 1995 Open champion, grew up in which small Arkansas town on the Arkansas River?

    Answer: Dardanelle, Arkansas

Daly still lives there. He has sold merchandise from a camper van in the car park of the Hooters restaurant during Masters week.

  5. Which links at Rosses Point, beneath the flat-topped mountain of Ben Bulben that W. B. Yeats wrote about, is the home of the West of Ireland Championship?

Answer: County Sligo Golf Club, Rosses Point

Rory McIlroy won the West of Ireland twice as a teenager. Yeats is buried in Drumcliff churchyard, under Ben Bulben.
