Golf courses on a world map: every one from past rounds on one map.

  1. Ian Woosnam, all five feet four of him, won the 1991 Masters by one from José María Olazábal, holing a six-footer at the last and punching the air. Where?

    Answer: Augusta National, Georgia

Woosnam became world number one the following week. He was the fourth British winner in four years.

  2. Rory McIlroy birdied the last two holes, with a 2-iron into the wind at the 18th, to win the 2023 Scottish Open by one from Robert MacIntyre, at a modern course beside Muirfield. Where?

Answer: The Renaissance Club, East Lothian

The Tom Doak course at Dirleton has hosted the Scottish Open since 2019. MacIntyre had his turn there a year later, winning with his father on the bag.

  3. Tiger Woods won his second Open at the home of golf in 2005, the week Jack Nicklaus played his last major and birdied the final hole. Where?

Answer: The Old Course, St Andrews

Nicklaus missed the cut by two but holed a 15-foot birdie putt at the 18th as the crowd stood. Woods won by five.

  4. Adam Scott, the first Australian to win the Masters, was born in which South Australian city, before his family moved to Queensland?

    Answer: Adelaide, South Australia

Scott's father was a club professional. He used a long putter for his 2013 Masters win, two years before anchoring was banned.

  5. Ernie Els won his first major at 24 in a three-man play-off with Colin Montgomerie and Loren Roberts in 1994, in heat so fierce that Montgomerie was mocked for sweating. Where?

    Answer: Oakmont Country Club, Pennsylvania

Montgomerie was out of the play-off after 18 holes, and Els beat Roberts at the second extra hole of sudden death. Arnold Palmer played his last US Open there that week.
